Help Relieve the Suffering of Seriously Ill Patients and their Families

PALLIATIVE CARE: Palliative Care is specialized medical care for people with serious illnesses. This type of care is focused on providing patients with relief from the symptoms, pain, and stress of a serious illness- whatever the cause. Palliative care is provided by a team of doctors, nurses, and other specialists who work with a patient's doctor to provide an extra layer of support. Palliative Care is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness, and can be provided along with curative treatment.

The mission of the Palliative Care Institute of Southeast Louisiana, as a nonprofit tax-exempt organization, is to educate physicians and healthcare professionals, students in all the health professions, and the community how to improve the care received by patients and their families who are dealing with serious diseases causing suffering and impaired quality of life . Since 2002 we have provided workshops, seminars, and lectures to practicing physicians, healthcare professionals, and students throughout LA and southern MS. We have collaborated with Tulane and LSU medical schools, Ochsner Clinic, the Louisiana-Mississippi Hospice & Palliative Care Organization, and with area hospices, hospitals, community and civic organizations. We are supported by grants from charitable foundations and individuals to teach, promote, and improve palliative care

"The Palliative Care Institute of Southeast Louisiana is a 501(c) 3 non-profit educational organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law."
